These SpongeBob-centric episodes love starting things off with nonchalant activities, don't they.
Airdate: November 3, 2021"Home Sweet Pineapple - Gory Edition" is the fifth episode of Gory Toons. It is also the retelling of the SpongeBob SquarePants classic, Home Sweet Pineapple.
SpongeBob is about to eat an orrange, when suddenly his pineapple gets devoured by pesky nematodes. SpongeBob settles on moving into Patrick's rock and decides to use it as a blanket. Unfortunately, Patrick's rock crushes his body and pinned him to the ground. SpongeBob tries to free himself, but he only winds up severing his body. A sleeping Gary slithers onto SpongeBob's intestines and slips on it, falling on his back, and pinning it to the ground. As SpongeBob gets panicked once more, he shortly bleeds out from his injuries.
"Home Sweet Pineapple - Gory Edition" provides examples of:
- Bottle Episode: Like the original version, the entire episode takes place on Conch Street and features even fewer characters than its predecessor, with only SpongeBob and Gary being featured. Not even Patrick appears, despite his house still playing a major role in this episode.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: SpongeBob is crushed by Patrick's rock, forcing him to strenuously free himself. However, this resulted in him being severed by the waist, with only his intestines connecting both halves of his body. He is then pinned to the ground by Gary and eventually bleeds to death.
- Downer Ending: Unlike the episode it is trying to retell, SpongeBob remains homeless and soon precisely dies from living in Patrick's rock.
- Extreme Omnivore: The Nematodes, of course, ate the entire pineapple in this episode again.
- Karma Houdini: Of course, like in the original episode, the nematodes that consumed SpongeBob's house and rendered him homeless gets no comeuppance.
- Oh, Crap!: SpongeBob when he realized that his house was shrinking.
- Small Role, Big Impact: The nematodes are technically responsible for SpongeBob's death alongside Gary, as they destroyed SpongeBob's house, rendering him homeless and making him resort to living under Patrick's rock.
- They Killed Kenny Again: SpongeBob die in this episode.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Gary survives in this episode.
- Trauma Conga Line: SpongeBob is instead mutilated horrifically in this retelling of "Home Sweet Pineapple". Though, the title does mention "Gory Edition".
- The Swarm: The nematodes who devour SpongeBob's house.
- Twice-Told Tale: This episode is a retelling of the episode "Home Sweet Pineapple", but with an alternative ending that features gore in style obviously to Happy Tree Friends.
