Max receives a call from a Russian informant who wishes to provide him with a list of KAOS agents. She reveals herself to be a part of the Russian swim team that will be competing against the American team in the coming days and instructs Max to contact her at the swim meet. Unfortuantely for Max, her name is long and foreign, therefore he can't remember it. The Chief, 99 and Max must go undercover to retrieve the list and protect the informant from KAOS.

Examples:

  • As Long as It Sounds Foreign: The names of the Russian swim team. Lampshaded by the Chief:
Chief: That's the trouble with this whole assignment, Max. The names of the Iron Curtain girls all sounded alike.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Greco initially tries to kill Max with a machine gun. Once Max starts hiding underwater from the bullets, Greco produces a harpoon gun and jumps in after him, only to accidentally kill another KAOS agent. He then pulls a knife out from his sock and proceeds to attempt to stab Max underwater.
  • Eat the Evidence: Max does this accidentally once to a note containing names of KAOS agents. He intentionally eats them the second time to stop Greco, the Russian KAOS agent, from obtaining it.
  • Harpoon Gun: Used by Greco to kill a defector at the beginning of the episode. He also employs a machine gun in his attempts to kill Max.
  • Hidden Weapons: Greco hides a knife in his sock, and Max has an inflatable horse ring with a gun hidden in the horse's head.
  • Message in a Bottle: One technique employed by the Russian informant (Verna) to provide Max with a list of KAOS agents. Unfortunately Max finds the bottle before Verna has a chance to place the note in it.
  • Mysterious Informant: Subverted. A Russian female contacts Max several times over the course of the episode as she organises to deliver a list of enemy agents to him. She even provides her name and reveals she is part of the Russian swimming team. Unfortunately for Max, he's not good with remembering long foreign names and has to spend the rest of the episode trying to work out the informant's identity.
  • Overly Long Gag: Max spends almost two minutes looking for a pencil to write down the Russian informant's name while on the phone with her. This involves trying seven drawers, shooting six drawers open and pulling out bullets to fire at the seventh drawer. After the phone call ends, he finds a pencil in the top pocket of his dressing gown.
  • Running Gag: Would you believe Max trained a girl to swim across the English channel four times? Or three times across the Mississippi? How about twice around the bathtub?
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: Downplayed. Both Max and Greco can hold their breath long enough to have an underwater brawl, but eventually have to come up for air.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: While Russia is never explicitly mentioned by any of the characters, the Chief dates this episode by referring to Russian swim team as 'Iron Curtain girls'.
