Recap / Full House S 5 E 17 Too Much Monkey Business

Go To

"Too Much Monkey Business" is an episode in the fifth season of Full House.

Wendy, Danny's sister, makes a visit, and Joey takes a liking to her at once, but tension arises after Danny voices his disapproval to the prospect of Joey dating Wendy. Joey decides to avoid speaking to Danny as a result, Danny reacts by trying to follow Joey, and the chimpanzee Wendy has with her runs loose in the house and causes trouble.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Cosmetic Catastrophe: D.J. tries to give Kimmy a makeover, as, in D.J.'s own words, Kimmy can't afford anyone but her to do it. Too bad Danny's sister happens to visit with a chimpanzee in tow, and the chimpanzee adds more hair-dye solution than one would apply normally without anyone noticing (the chimpanzee applies the extra dye while D.J. and Kimmy are having a beauty rest with slices of cucumber over their eyes and talking to each other, preventing them from seeing the chimpanzee and drowning out what little sound the chimpanzee makes in pouring the dye). The result is Kimmy having magenta '80s Hair, but, luckily for D.J., who believes that she's solely responsible for Kimmy's bad hairdo, Kimmy is thrilled by the outcome.
Kimmy: I love it! And finally, I am one step ahead of Madonna. And the best part of this is, my mother is going to freak out. Thanks, Deej.
    [Kimmy and D.J. hug]
    D.J.: (awkwardly) Happy to help.
  • Kinky Spanking: When the chimpanzee slaps Jesse in the butt (repeatedly, at that), he initially thinks it's Rebecca being flirtatious. He's not happy when he turns around and realizes the truth.
  • Jaw Drop: Stephanie and Michelle both react with mouth agape at the result of Kimmy's "new hairdo".
    D.J.: Isn't she stunning?
    Stephanie: I'm definitely stunned.
  • Licked by the Dog: Or, in this case for Jesse, "spanked by a chimpanzee", which is what happens to him in this episode.
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Danny expresses opposition to the idea of Wendy and Joey dating. It's only near the end of the episode when Joey actually consents to Danny talking to him that Danny is able to reveal the reason behind his disapproval: Wendy has a habit of not staying put in one place for long, and Danny fears that she might break Joey's heart.
