Ross tries to go away for the weekend with Elizabeth, only to find that Paul and Rachel are staying at the same cabin. Meanwhile, on a whim, Monica books a venue for a hypothetical wedding with Chandler. Joey tries to convince a Russian dry cleaner to hang his picture on the wall.
- Aborted Arc: The end credits scene belatedly wraps up the "Joey working at Central Perk" storyline from earlier this season when he and Gunther realize he forgot to say he was quitting. Gunther admits he was going to fire him anyway and they agree to just drop the whole thing.
- Big "NO!": Monica reacts this way when she realizes Chandler heard the message from the venue organizer.
- Blackmail: Ross recreates Paul's not-so-private pep talk in order to get him to back off. As expected, Paul cares more about saving face than getting Ross fired.
- Blatant Lies: In the process of yelling at Ross, Paul assures Elizabeth that she's next. She then immediately insists she had no idea Ross was at the cabin.
- Celebrity Paradox: Joey mentions Air Force One to the Russian dry cleaner, saying he should watch it. Doubling as an Actor Allusion, Ilia Volok played one of the Russian terrorists. In addition, Gary Oldman would appear the following season, though not playing himself.
- Cloudcuckoolander: Nervous about the weekend, Paul gives himself a pep talk. It quickly veers into this.Paul: Just relax. Just relax, Paul, you're doing great. She likes you. She... maybe, she likes you. She likes you. You know why? Because you're a... neat guy. You are the man. You are... The Man! I still got it! Nice and sexy. You're just a love machine.
- Commitment Issues: Monica panics when she realises Chandler knows she made a reservation for a wedding venue because she knows how bad his issues are. Phoebe notes that most men would panic, but Chandler gets an "oh dear lord". However, it turns out that while Chandler is a bit thrown by the message, he's actually decided he's ready to propose to Monica.
- Didn't Think This Through: Monica booked the venue as a private lark with no intention of telling Chandler. It never occurred to her that the place might have a cancellation and thus call the number she herself wrote down.
- Funny Answering Machine: The message on Chandler and Monica's machine is Chandler saying "You've reached Monica and Chandler's. If you're hearing this message, we're probably screening". Chandler, sitting a few feet away, quips "Yeah we are!"
- Hope Spot: Ross nearly escapes the cabin without being seen when Paul suddenly enters the room.
- Oh, Crap!: Monica upon learning that Chandler has found out about her booking the venue.
- Wham Line: Once Monica leaves to tell Joey that Chandler is home Phoebe emerges from her room and asks if he saw the wedding venue, which he confirms.Phoebe: I can't believe you're going to ask Monica to marry you!
Chandler: I know!
