"I should get my helmet."
Doc has misplaced the rent money, and Mokey and Wembley see Sprocket, who thinks the Fraggles have stolen it, trying to smash his way through the Fraggle hole in Doc's workshop. Meanwhile, Red, feeling jealous of Gobo's exploits, goes to the Gorgs' garden to prove her salt by picking a radish. While trying to do so, she sees Junior, in an effort to please Pa, attempting to use a sledgehammer to destroy the rock that serves as the Fraggles' entrance to the garden while his parents are away picking wild skunk-cabbage. Red manages to escape through the rock, and the Fraggle Five exchange their news.

Red and Boober go to the entrance to the garden, while Gobo, Mokey, and Wembley go up to the Fraggle hole at the workshop and see Sprocket cause a hanging shelf to fall on him and knock him out. Meanwhile, Boober fetches Gobo when Junior decides to blow up the entrance to the garden. While Gobo runs into the garden to help, Red manages to move the dynamite so that the explosion goes off in the Gorgs' castle—but a chunk of wood lands on Gobo, knocking him out. Boober tries to run to Mokey and Wembley, but Junior catches him. Red ties Junior's shoelaces together, and he falls, knocking himself out.

Half conscious, Gobo asks his Uncle Matt to sing him "Muck and Goo." Red sings him the song, which is also one that Pa sang to Junior when he was little. The thought of Pa wakes Junior, who thinks he'll be in for it when Ma and Pa come back. But when they return, they think an enemy has set off the explosion and tried to destroy the rock, which is a sacred place where a young Gorg and his beloved share their first kiss. Red and Boober, overjoyed to hear this, manage to revive Gobo and take him home. And when Doc gets back, he finds the rent money in a box that fell off the shelf Sprocket knocked loose.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking:
Boober: Oh, Red, Red, Red! It's no good, Red. I'm useless to you. I'm a quivering collection of the worst and least helpful emotions...
Red: [forcing him to his feet] Come on! Move it!
Boober: ...fear, anxiety, terror, paranoia, indigestion, dishpan hands...
  • Continuity Nod: Junior, when planning to destroy the rock that serves as the Fraggles' entrance to the garden, wears his colander helmet from "The Thirty-Minute Work Week."
  • Dumbass Teenage Son: Junior to Pa, although the definition of "teenager" differs with the Gorgs.
  • Fear Song: Red sings "Afraid to Be Afraid" as she laments her fears at letting the other Fraggles see her being afraid when she lied to Gobo earlier that she wasn't afraid of the Gorgs.
  • Flashback: After he and Junior get knocked out, Gobo talks in his sleep, begging Uncle Matt to sing "Muck and Goo," so Red sings it to him. This leads to a flashback scene of Gobo dreaming about singing it with Uncle Matt when he was little, then a flashback scene of Junior dreaming about singing it with Pa when he was a baby.
  • Forgot to Mind Their Head: Wembley bumps his head on the pipe again. Twice.
  • Holy Ground: A non-religious example. The rock Junior wants to blow up is Kissing Rock to the Gorgs, a traditional monument where a young Gorg and his beloved share their first kiss.
  • Jerkass Ball: The Captain is much harsher towards Sprocket in the UK version of this episode.
  • Let's See YOU Do Better!: Early on, while trying to get Uncle Matt's postcard, Gobo accidentally puts his hand in Sprocket's mouth. He flees back through the hole as Sprocket starts after him, and Red mocks him about losing his edge. Gobo suggests she go to Outer Space and show him how it's done. She refuses on the grounds that Outer Space is Gobo's territory.
  • Oh, Crap!: Junior, when he wakes up and remembers the explosion that just happened in the castle.
Junior: Oh, no! I gotta fix things up, or my Pa'll thump me 'til there's nothing left but Gorg dust!
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Pa's "Dum of a Son of a Gun" (about Junior, of course) is a Reason You Suck Song.
  • Relocating the Explosion: Red moves the dynamite to the Gorgs' castle, causing an explosion there instead of blowing up Kissing Rock.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: After Junior squashes Pa's favorite crown.
Pa: OH! The crown your great-great-great grandpa entrusted to me! Junior, how COULD you?!
Junior: It was easy, actually. [Demonstrating] You just put it down and then you sit on it, and then kablam, one nice flat crown!
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Yes, in a Fraggle Rock episode, as Junior tries to blow up Fraggle Rock with dynamite and accidentally blows up part of the castle instead. While an explosion in Fraggle Rock sounds odd, it's not that surprising if you're familiar with the work of Jim Henson, who was always fond of Characters Blowing Up.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: After getting knocked out, Gobo does this, begging Uncle Matt to sing "Muck and Goo" to him.
  • Tied-Together-Shoelace Trip: When Junior catches Boober, Red ties Junior's shoelaces together, causing him to fall and knock himself out.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Junior wants to prove to Pa that he's not a "Dum of a Son of a Gun."

Dishpan hands

What's so bad about dishpan hands, anyway?

How well does it match the trope?
