A Story for Lily is an episode of Everyday Craziness in Pontypandy.

While inside on a rainy day, Tom tells Lily the story of The Little Mermaid.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: A rarity for the series, Lily is the main character of the episode.
  • Almost Kiss: After the mermaid rescues the prince, they are about to kiss, but the prince's guards come looking for him, and the mermaid is forced to flee.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: At night, the mermaid sings for the prince, and the prince always listens for his beautiful voice, even after he forgets his face.
  • Freeze Sneeze: After falling head-first into the ocean and emerging soaking wet, the cold makes Ben sneeze.
  • Gender-Blender Name: The mermaid in the story is named Seaflower, and is male. However, when Lily starts to think of the story as an analogy for Tom and Ben's relationship, she simply calls the mermaid Ben.
  • Given Name Reveal: Sarah and Hannah are reading a Mermaid Girls book that introduces a human called Marina. Sarah mentions that Marina is her middle name.
  • Pink Means Feminine: In Lily's imagination, she's a mermaid with a pink tail.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: Most of the story is The Little Mermaid retold starring the cast of Fireman Sam, with Ben as the mermaid, Tom as the prince, and Lily as an Audience Surrogate.
