Recap / Everybody Hates Chris S 3 E 6 Everybody Hates Bed Stuy

Go To

  • An Aesop:
Doc: Chris, you can't base your legacy on lies!
  • Based on a Great Big Lie: Chris decides to spice up his dull report on Doc's romantic experiences by spinning it to be a Serial Killer story. It works a little too well.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Chris thinks that a fabricated Serial Killer story will make for a good read and get him immortalized in the school yearbook. Unfortunately, the Corleone staff takes it seriously and contacts the local police and press to warn people of the killer, turning Bed-Stuy into a ghost town scared stiff of "The Scissor Killer".
  • I Just Want to Be Special: This is Chris' motivation in the episode. Even Greg has honors under his name in the yearbook. Chris scrambles to join the school newspaper to have any sort of achievement to his name.
  • Let Me Get This Straight...: Doc lampshades how ridiculous it is that a notorious serial killer would just explain his entire backstory and motive to Chris, some random teenager, on a city block, randomly. Doubles as an Armor-Piercing Question.
  • Medal of Dishonor: Chris gets immortalized in the yearbook.. as a "Liar".
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Well, Jerkass anyway, but Lisa isn't too subtle in making unflattering allusions to Chris' ethnicity.
  • Wham Line: An In-Universe one.
Chris: That's no killer! That's my father!
Detective: (has a gun to Julius' head) ..How do you know?
Narrator!Chris: If I lied again, there was gonna be an obituary.
Chris: ..Because there is no killer.
