Go To

Original air date: 10/6/2003

Abuela gives Dora a star pocket, which makes her a "star catcher" so she can catch stars! But when Swiper swipes the star pocket, Dora and Boots need help from some Explorer Star friends to travel to the Cloud Castle to retrieve it from the Cloud Prince and rescue her new star friend, Woo-Hoo!

Tropes:

  • Distressed Dude: Woo-Hoo is this when the star pocket flies away with him still in it, ending up in the hands of the Cloud Prince.
  • Either/Or Title: This episode is marketed as "Dora's Star-Catching Adventure".
  • End of an Age: This is the final episode to use the "star-catching" formula as Season 3.
  • Foreshadowing: When the dragon appears as Azul starts to go down Dragon Mountain, he looks more worried than ferocious, as if trying to warn them about something. This is a clue that the dragon is friendly.
  • Good All Along: The dragon that was chasing Azul was revealed to be friendly once he reaches the bottom; he was chasing them because he was trying to warn them about the missing track pieces.
  • I Will Show You X!: When Dora tries to get the Cloud Prince to give her star pocket back because he's not a real star catcher like her, he says to her, "I'll show you that I'm a real star catcher!"
  • Karma Houdini: Swiper successfully swipes the star pocket and disappears with no consequences for his actions.
  • Oh, Crap!: Both Dora and Boots when Swiper swipes the star pocket and makes it fly away with Woo-Hoo still inside it. Also Woo-Hoo when he is flying away.
  • Origins Episode: Shows how Dora first got her star pocket from Abuela and became a star catcher.
  • Passing the Torch: Dora receives this from Abuela, who passes the star pocket to her after using it in her youth.
  • Perpetual Storm: The Stormy Water is an ocean with endless storm clouds.
  • Threatening Shark: Now that Dora and Boots can see with Glowy Star helping them light the way, they're heading right for sharks.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Swiper swipes the star pocket. He then ties it to a balloon with the star pocket still having Woo-Hoo inside it.
