With Anthy's arrival, the Literature Club finds itself at odds when they notice that elements of the game are being deleted and that Yuri is being hunted down by a monster that she had no recollection of meeting.
Apocalypse provides examples of:
- An Arm and a Leg: Monika's arm is bitten off by Anthy.
- Darker and Edgier: By far the darkest arc of the webcomic by far. It introduces Anthy, who is later revealed to be an antivirus program that was sent into the game to clean it, and by the end of Apocalypse, she had completely destroyed the setting and the game is 90% deleted due to her actions.
- Darkest Hour: The girls' world as they know it is slowly being deleted by a sentient antivirus software. Worse, said software program proves to potentially be even more powerful than Monika.
- Greater-Scope Villain: The Player/User sent Anthy to delete the game.
- Heel–Face Turn: Anthy is given the chance to start over upon her defeat.
- Last-Second Chance: Monika offers her remaining hand to Anthy to convince her to join the fight against the User. Anthy accepts it.
- Meaningful Name: Anthy's name makes sense as the arc progresses as she is revealed to be an antivirus program.
- Not Afraid of You Anymore: Yuri opts to stop feeling sorry for herself and fight for her life.
- Perpetual Smiler: Anthy who later lampshades this during her discussion with Ako of how it is permanent.
- Sadistic Choice: Anthy gives the Monika and the girls the ultimatum of either allowing her to kill them, or die slowly and painfully with the game. Alternatively, she could torture the girls while Monika watched.
- Wham Episode: Monika's arm is presumably gone for good and the game is 90% away from being deleted.
