Gammamon broke Hiro's tablet and went into a fallout with him. At the same time, Espimon got his arm twisted by a mysterious force when searching for "the real Hiro" and asks Hiro for help. When Hiro, Gammamon, Espimon and Jellymon arrive to the island where Espimon's arm was twisted, they find out many inaminate objects in there are twisted into spirals, including the hair of a local girl and her mom. From that night to the next day, the Digimon behind it starts jacking it up to absurd levels.

- Body Horror: This Calamaramon gets an ability that her past incarnations had never demonstrated before; using mysterious ripples to twist things into spirals. This includes humans, animals and Digimon alike, and she can completely deform and contort their bodies into spiral shapes. Affected humans also remain in the Digital Field, although it prevents her from accumulating more victims.
- Continuity Nod: Hiro orders Jellimon to use Bibi Thunder, just like back in Episode 17 where Ruli orders her to fight Frozomon in Kiyoshiro's place.
- Degraded Boss: Calamaramon debuted in Digimon Frontier, where she was the weakest member of the resident Quirky Miniboss Squad and one of its nastier members personality-wise.
- Feud Episode: Hiro finds that Gammamon has been chewing his tablet, lightly scolds him for it and asks for an apology. Gammamon refuses and sulks for most of the episode, ditching Hiro to hang out with a little girl who tells Gammamon that it's no fun to feud with your friends. That inspires Gammamon to tearfully apologize to Hiro in time to face the Monster of the Week.
- Out of Focus: Ruli was busy with her summer courses, and Kiyoshiro was busy making his forum. The only tamer involved with this episode's incident is Hiro.
- Spectacular Spinning: Calamaramon is an avid believer of this. However, she implies that the gate between the Digital and human worlds adversely affected her mindset.
- Spin Attack: Calamaramon's Titanic Charge. Unlike in Frontier, she has no issues using it at all.
