English and French Episode Title: Virus
Jérémie tests a new Virus on Lyoko, in the hopes of infecting the new super computer.
This episode contains examples of:
- The Bad Guy Wins: XANA's new minions kill off the crew, and also leaves the Skid stranded on the new super computer, and the Virus was All for Nothing, as the system was coded differently.
- Boring, but Practical: Odd steals Laura's tablet so they can get her to go the factory.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Aelita, much like in Lady Einstein, is not thrilled with working with Laura again, and protests that getting Laura to help is a bad idea.
- Computer Virus: Jérémie makes a computer virus to destroy the new super computer, which Aelita warns could cause irreparable damage to Lyoko if their dry run is not successful. Their first run is not successful at infecting the system, however, and the Virus wouldn't work on the new supercomputer, as the core is differently coded, according to Laura.
- Continuity Nod: Laura getting amnesia by a time reversion of her time helping the gang is the same as William helping Yumi in Double Trouble.
- Continuity Snarl: Jérémie is told by William that Laura remembers the lab over the phone after she speaks with him, and Jérémie claims that this is the first time a Return To The Past hasn't worked. This is despite the fact that William also remembered his time with the gang too.
- Flashback: Laura keeps getting flashbacks to her time in the lab from the start of the episode, and starts to remember more and more.
- Hackette: Laura manages to make the Virus work on the super computer running Lyoko, which makes the Return to the Past less effective on her. And this was with Jérémie watching her. This is also used as her leverage to be in the gang, as normally the gang vote on such matters, but since she's messed with the Return to the Past, they have no choice but for her to join.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: Averted in the end. Jérémie wants Laura to help with the code to see what went wrong with the virus, and the gang do admit that her braininess may be of use, and Jérémie says that he hates doing it for the benefit of the team, but he'll launch a return to the past afterwards so she doesn't remember. Laura actually finds out about the Return To The Past while coding, and Jérémie is forced to go through with it. This causes flashbacks of her time in the lab when daydreaming, and Laura even tells William what she saw. Eventually, she does get back to the lab, much to the annoyance of Jérémie.
- The Smart Gal: Laura, though this was already the case in Lady Einstein, but now we can see she knows quite a lot about computer viruses, and can code in a lethal modular-virus, that in theory can take out the super computer.
