Brennan and Booth's honeymoon in Buenos Aires is interrupted by Brennan's insistence on helping local detective/longtime fan Raphael Valenza (Joaquim De Almeida) with a murder investigation. However, the remains in question belong to a Nazi war criminal and were found in a historic mass grave. Meanwhile, Angela and Hodgins take care of Christine while Brennan and Booth are away and discuss having a second child.
Tropes
- Argentina Is Nazi Land: The victim was a Nazi war criminal whose remains were hidden in a mass grave.
- Ascended Fanboy: Valenza is a fan of Agent Andy from Bones' Kathy Reichs novels and gets to work alongside his inspiration.
- Asshole Victim: Hermann Haupt, who was a fugitive Nazi.
- Babysitting Episode: Hodgins and Angela are looking after Christine while her parents are on their honeymoon.
- Broken Pedestal: Haupt was killed by his granddaughter, Dr. Leticia Perez, when she discovered his hidden Nazi past, when she had dedicated her life to uncovering and exposing Argentina's sordid past.
- Busman's Holiday: They run into a murder investigation on their honeymoon. Because Brennan insists on visiting the local morgue.
- Hypocrite: Haupt married at least 2 Argentinean women in his life, the first being Dr. Perez's grandmother, but had the audacity to call his granddaughter a half-breed.
- Nazi Gold: Haupt's Nazi wealth included a supply of gold bars.
- Rejecting the Inheritance: Haupt offered his stolen Nazi wealth to Perez, only to be rejected in horror. He then starts laughing and mocking them, calling her a half-breed.
- Running Gag: People (nearly) immediately recognize Booth as the real Agent Andy from Bones' books.
- Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Haupt had friends in the Argentinean government to keep him from being extradited to Israel to stand trial.
- Sympathetic Murderer: Bones, Booth, and Valenza feel this way about Dr. Perez after she confesses her reason for killing her grandfather.
