Go To

Big Time Crib is an episode from Season 1 of Big Time Rush.

The boys are tired with the design of their apartment, so when they get to do a music video for their Japanese founder who wants to shut down the music division on a fake apartment stage Gustavo created, the boys plot to move the set to the hotel and trick the apartment out.

Tropes:

  • Bad "Bad Acting": The Jennifers dump ketchup all over them to look like blood and badly manage to convince Bitters that a fridge fell on them and threaten to sue him.
  • A Bloody Mess: To distract Mr. Bitters, the Jennifers pretend to be attacked by a falling fridge by using ketchup as fake blood. It works, until Bitters realizes the ketchup.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Palmwoods pool is used for a dog food commercial early on in the Cold Open. The pool is used again as the setting for the boys' interviews as part of their plan to redo their apartment.
  • Dressed in Layers: James somehow wears three bandanas on top of each other.
    Gustavo: Take off that bandana.
(James removes purple bandana, revealing blue one underneath)
    Gustavo: Take off that bandana.
(James removes blue bandana, revealing orange one underneath)
  • Every Man Has His Price: When Bitters discovers the renovation done on the apartment, he demands for it to be undone but Kelly simply hands him a big check.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Fujisaki is 200 years old, according to Gustavo.
  • Running Gag: James' obsession with bandanas.
    James: Bandanas are cool!
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: James somehow has a bandana appear on his head while the camera is on Gustavo.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Subverted. The set is built in the boys' apartment, they have the best living place yet, and the video shoot goes without a hitch! ...But then it's revealed the set is going back to the warehouse, so it immediately reverts to the gross apartment. Until Gustavo decides to Throw the Dog a Bone.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: When the video shoot successfully changes Fujisaki's mind about the music division, Gustavo decides his "dogs" deserve a "treat" and lets them keep the Ultrateen Crib set as their permanent apartment.
  • Voice Changeling: Logan does a rather good impersonation of Griffin's voice.
  • We Need a Distraction: To ensure they have time to move the Ultrateen Crib to the Palmwoods, James is up for an interview first, and manages to halt Gustavo long enough.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Again subverted. The Ultrateen Crib is dismantled to the boys' dismay following the truth, but Gustavo thinks they deserve a treat and lets them keep it for good.
