Kevin and Darkstar team up to retrieve an Ancient Artifact called the Dominus Librium so they can both cure their current conditions. When Darkstar returns his former power, Kevin has to decide whether to give up being normal or not.
- Amplifier Artifact: Darkstar can wear the Dominus Librium on his chest to enhance his energy absorbing powers to work remotely through beams, becoming invincible to any offense or defense Gwen and Ben raise against him.
- Chekhov's Gun: The Dominus Librium is introduced here and it's going to play a major role in a future storyline in Ultimate Alien.
- Collapsing Lair: The temple begins to collapse when the duo retrieve the Dominus Librium.
- Enemy Mine: Darkstar and Kevin team up so they can cure their current conditions.
- Innocuously Important Episode: While this initially seems like a filler episode with a Status Quo Is God outcome, it will end up having major ramifications in the first Story Arc and season finale of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. See Chekhov's Gun for details.
- Ironic Echo: After Kevin and Darkstar cure themselves with the Dominus Librium, Darkstar punches Kevin in the eye and says "Our association is hereby concluded.", as a warning to never cross paths with him again. Near the end of the episode, Kevin uses the same phrase to let Darkstar know that he will destroy the Dominus Librium to turn the two back to their original forms.
- Out of Focus: Ben and Gwen only make one appearance in the first half of the episode, to comment on Kevin’s absence and fly off to fight some Forever Knights.
- Power Nullifier: The Dominus Librium is sought out by Darkstar with Kevin's help because it can absorb, regulate and nullify their powers when both are channeled through it, curing them both of their power related deformities. Kevin gets restored to a powerless human form from this.
- Ruins for Ruins' Sake: The Ancient Artifact is located in an abandoned temple guarded by stone monsters.
- Rule of Symbolism: When Darkstar resumes his handsome persona as Mike Morningstar, he admires himself in a whole mirror. But after the climax, when he becomes Darkstar again, he's appalled to see his ugly visage has returned, looking at it from a broken mirror.
- Rock Monster: The Dominus Librium is guarded by these.
