Airdate: January 27, 1996

My Mother the Squirrel: The Little Blue Bird thinks Slappy is his mother, much to her annoyance.

The Party: The Warners host a party in the water tower with the promise of meeting Steven.

Oh! Say Can You See?: The Flame watches Francis Scott Key write The Star-Spangled Banner during the War of 1812.

The 12 Days of Christmas Song: The Little Blue Bird sings his rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas.

My Mother the Squirrel contains examples of:

  • Borrowed Catchphrase: After Slappy says she's starting to like sitting on the Little Blue Bird (after an obligatory rimshot from Wakko), Skippy says, "Goodnight, everybody!"
  • The Bus Came Back: The Little Blue Bird from "Wild Blue Yonder" returns. The beginning is pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of the earlier short. Only this time, the Little Blue Bird dismisses the airplane being his mother.
  • Curse Cut Short: When the Little Blue Bird keeps trying to hide under Slappy's tail:
Slappy: This kid's becoming a real pain in the... ah, you know.
  • Suddenly Shouting: When Slappy tries to get the Little Blue Bird away from her:
Slappy: Let me put it this way. GET OUT OF MY FACE!!!

The Party contains examples of:

  • Bizarre Taste in Food: The "fancy dinner" the Warners serve is a tray of peanut butter and Grey Poupon mustard sandwiches, which all the guests actually seem to enjoy.
  • Gasshole: What would a party be without the Great Wakkorotti belching to "Las Chiapanecas"?
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: For once, averted. This party is so special, Wakko is actually wearing pants. Very tacky plaid pants, that is.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed:
    • Scratchy is in the middle of a session with William Shatner when he gets his invitation.
    • The Warners keep trying to get people to say hello to Christopher Walken.
Walken: Why won't anyone say hello to me?
  • Overly Pre-Prepared Gag: The Warners invite Plotz with the promise of "Steven" coming over. Plotz reluctantly goes, but just to see "Steven". As the party becomes more and more of a bust, Plotz tries to leave, but the Warners keep telling him to stay for "Steven". At the end, "Steven" finally arrives... Steven Pudner, a fat schlubby nerd. Obviously, Plotz was expecting Steven Spielberg. This is lampshaded by Yakko.
Yakko: Was that a long way to go for a gag or what?

Oh! Say Can You See? contains examples of:

  • Artistic License – History: The poem that later became the Star Spangled Banner was actually originally titled "In Defense of Fort McHenry.
  • National Anthem: This short portrays Francis Scott Key writing the poem that would later become America's national anthem.

The 12 Days of Christmas Song contains examples of:

  • Nepotism: This short was made because Tom Ruegger's son, Cody, came home from school one day and said he learned a new song. He proceeded to sing his mangled version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" where all the gifts were replaced by turtledoves. After he heard it, Ruegger said, "We've got to get you into a recording studio and have you sing this!"
