Recap / All Hail King Julien S 03 E 02 O Captain My Captain Part 2

Go To

With the mango ceremony a bust, Julienne simply suggests they sacrifice a lemur to Gladys as a means to appease her. Meanwhile, King Julien tries his hands out at captaining a pirate ship.

Tropes:

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Dorothy helps keep Ted safe from the angry mob, and they share a genuine moment of affection.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Mort is the first on the list of lemurs to be sacrificed if the need arises, but since Mort isn't around, Ted is the one up for sacrifice, as he volunteered to be second on the list to feel important.
    • Willie is noticeably at number three, which if it weren't for Ted volunteering to be number two, would make him the second most expendable lemur in the kingdom.
  • Call-Back: Julien tries to rally Sage to save him with their secret body double distress signal, but Sage being Sage, doesn't remember it.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Once the idea of Lemur Sacrifice is put up, who should be sacrificed is easily decided on by King Julien having already established a priority list of who should be sacrificed if needed; Mort, Ted, Willie, Pancho, Horst then Hector.
  • The Dreaded: The pirate crew immediately recognizes Mort as "Dread Pirate Mort".
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: As the pirates storm through Crimson's house, one can see that she also has her own picture of her Grandma Rose similar to Clover's first seen in "Are You There, Frank? It's Me, King Julien".
  • Human Sacrifice: Technically Lemur sacrifice, but the idea is still the same.
  • Hunting the Most Dangerous Game: Julienne and Barty join in the hunt for Ted, treating it like a game.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: While Julien captains the crew, he doesn't really pirate anything, just has the crew run around making a bunch of noise. Ethan calls him out on it and teaches Julien about what a pirate really does.
