Go To

The twenty-fifth episode of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Dr. Robotnik invents Servitude Chips that can respond to commands and puts them in Scratch and Grounder, while freezing Mt. Splatterhorn with his Ultra Freeze-O-Matic to annoy Sonic and Tails who are relaxing there. When the Servitude Chips malfunction, Sonic and Tails take advantage of the situation by tricking Scratch and Grounder into thinking they're their masters.

This episode provides examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: The episode ends with Robotnik trapped under a frozen Lake Splatterhorn, but since Sonic states that the ice will thaw in about a week, it's possible that Robotnik managed to get out by the time of the next episode.
  • Burning Rubber: When Robotnik tries to bury Sonic, Tails, Scratch, and Grounder in an avalance, Sonic runs back and forth, making a trail of fire, which he uses to melt the snow. He then surfs on the wave.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: This exhange occurs between Scratch and Grounder when Sonic launches them into the air with a ski lift:
Grounder: Uh, Scratch, when do you think we'll land?
Scratch: Probably sometime in the next episode!
  • Circling Birdies: After Sonic melts the snow from an avalanche and turns it into a wave of water, Grounder gets splashed by the wave and miniature seahorses swim around his head.
  • Freeze Ray: Robotnik invents the Ultra Freeze-O-Matic in this episode, which he plans to use to freeze everyone on Mobius solid, so that in their frozen states, he can install a Servitude Chip, guaranteeing complete and unquestioning obedience to him.
  • Harmless Freezing: After Sonic tosses Robotnik into Lake Splatterhorn, Sonic freezes it with Robotnik still inside. Not only is Robotnik still able to talk to Sonic from inside the ice, but he can also swim and cannot drown.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: Courtesy of the Servitude Chips malfunctioning, Scratch and Grounder worship Sonic as their master for a short while. Robotnik eventually gets them back under control using a remote that resets the chips to their original settings.
  • Hypno Trinket: The Servitude Chips, invented by Robotnik to instill complete and unquestioning obedience to him. He first puts them in Scratch and Grounder to stop them squabbling and ensure they obey him. After Scratch and Grounder capture Tails and bring him to Robotnik, Robotnik reveals an upgraded form called a Servitude Patch, which will allow him to subbjugate living things as well, and places it on Tails to put him under his control.
  • Literal-Minded: Sonic tricks Scratch and Grounder into thinking he's their master and taking them to Robotnik's fortress. On their way, Sonic tells Grounder to give him a cup of hot chocolate, and then a hot tub to relax in. He then says, "Not bad, but it needs whipped cream." Grounder puts whipped cream in the hot tub, then Sonic clarifies that he meant in the hot chocolate.
  • NOT!: This exchange occurs when Scratch and Grounder return to Robotnik's fortress after capturing Tails:
    Scratch: We got the fox!
Grounder: Yeah, we got the two-tailed fox!
Scratch: We have obeyed your command, Master!
Grounder: We're sorry we worshipped the hedgehog instead of you, your worshipfulness. Forgive us?
Robotnik: Of course I'll forgive you... NOT!
  • Super Not-Drowning Skills: At the end of the episode, Robotnik falls into Lake Splatterhorn, and Sonic freezes it with him still inside. Inside the lake, Robotnik tells Sonic to unfreeze the lake, but Sonic and Tails refuse to do so, and tell him that he'll get out in a week when the ice thaws. Fortunately for Robotnik, he doesn't drown, as he shows up in the next episode alive and well.
  • Tempting Fate: When Sonic first arrives at Mt. Splatterhorn, he says that it's time for him to kick back, eat chili dogs, and chill out. Suddenly, the Ultra Freeze-O-Matic freezes Mt. Splatterhorn, and Sonic says, "Maybe 'Chill out' was a bad choice of words."
  • Title Drop: When Sonic, Tails, Scratch and Grounder come across a thin ice bridge that could collapse if one of them tries to cross it, Sonic says "Sno problem!"
  • Visual Pun: When Robotnik attmepts to trap Sonic and Tails in a giant snowball, Sonic sees it and says, "Robotnik's slipping. The rolling snowball is the oldest trick in the book." He then pulls out a book that says, THE BOOK and opens it, where he finds an image of a rolling snowball on page one, under the words, OLDEST TRICK. Just after that, the snowball rolls towards a billboard of Robotnik that says, SERVE HIM RIGHT!.
