One Balloon: FINALLY, WE CAN DIE! - Bowdlerise: During the imagination zone scene, the storyboards originally had Ice King teach NEPTR about princess storage. He says that if you leave all of your princesses piled on top of each other in a massive pit, they'll keep each other warm and "feed off each other".
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The ending suggests that, in his own way, Ice King really did care for NEPTR as a son.
- Insistent Terminology: When NEPTR worries about the morality of sneaking into the Ice King's castle, Finn assures him they're not breaking and entering, they're pranking and entering.
- Ironic Echo Cut: Finn says this to NEPTR while they're sneaking around the Ice King's palace.
Finn: [Jake] could wake up from his nap at any second!

- Lightning Can Do Anything: A freak lightning strike brings NEPTR to life, though it takes another one to fully power him up.

- Taking the Bullet: When Finn and NEPTR are fighting Ice King, Ice King fires a thunderbolt at NEPTR and Finn tries to take it for him, but this is subverted when the thunderbolt ignores Finn and hits NEPTR anyway.
