Basic Trope: The guy flying the other warplane beside the hero.
- Straight: Wikistani Ace Pilot and flight lead Alpha 1, callsign "Samson", has a wingman by his side; Alpha 2, callsign "Solomon", who acts as Samson's foil.
- Exaggerated: Alpha Squadron is a fat cat flight, and Samson has loads of wingmen and wingwomen who are Ace Pilots in their own rights. And they're all foils to Samson and each other!
- Downplayed:
- Solomon is just the Guy in Back, acting as Samson's WSO or RIO.
- Solomon works as AWACS, and while he's the only other Wikistani pilot in the skies, he doesn't see much action.
- Justified: Samson is leagues below the local One Man Air Force Reaper 1 who just pulls off some of the most crazy stunts known to man, and as such, Samson needs someone covering his 6.
- Inverted: Reaper 1 is so good that he doesn't need wingmen.
- Subverted: Solomon is relocated to a different squadron.
- Double Subverted: And then he's relocated back to Alpha Squadron, as Samson's wingman again.
- Parodied: Not only does Solomon act as a Romantic Wingman, he's also a Winged Man.
- Zig-Zagged: Solomon is an on-again-off-again wingman who's constantly being relocated to different squadrons, occasionally popping in as Samson's whenever the opportunity calls for it.
- Averted:
- Solomon isn't in the air force.
- Samson has no wingmen.
- Enforced: To give the hero a foil to bounce off of.
- Lampshaded: Samson snarks, "You're my wingman, right? That means you'll be helping me pick up chicks once we RTB, got that?"
- Invoked: The Wikistani Air Force encourages wingmen to band together and make squadrons.
- Exploited: Due to being essentially the guard of the flight lead, it's tougher for enemy planes to get to Samson without going through Solomon first.
- Defied: The Wikistani Air Force discourages wingmen and prefers having single pilot squadrons.
- Discussed: "So, who's your wingman gonna be? I've got Solomon as mine, he's a pretty cool guy."
- Conversed: "Ah, so we've got the foil wingman so that it's not gonna be Samson talking constantly. At least there's someone else for him to bounce off of, Samson droning around would be grating as hell."
