Basic Trope: A Victim of the Week is discovered to have killed themself.

  • Straight: After doing a thorough investigation of the crime scene and interrogating all the witnesses Detective Travis Fletcher gathers his suspects to give his summation, the killer of Leluch Rosenthal was none other that... Leluch himself.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed: Leluch did kill himself, however he would have been killed otherwise by posioning from the cook.
  • Justified:
    • Travis realizes all the suspects have proper alibis and he can't prove something is wrong about one of them. There was someone he though was above suspicion however...
    • Leluch was a Death Seeker, however he wanted to have some last fun with his final moments.
    • Leluch was a lover of mystery novels, and decided to challenge a new investigator with an elaborate scheme to test his skills, even if he wouldn't be around to see it.
  • Inverted: After doing a thorough investigation of the crime scene and interrogating all the witnesses Travis gathers his suspects to reveal Leluch's death was a murder, not a suicide.
  • Subverted:
  • Double-Subverted:
    • However he then goes on state it was Leluch himself who was responisible, he just killed himself in another way.
    • Technically neither are wrong. Leluch and Travis worked together on an assisted suicide for the former.
  • Parodied:
    • Travis eggs each of the suspects into a confession, until Leluch's ghost appears behind him and does so from being unable to handle the pressure.
    • Leluch cuts himself while shaving, and the guests around him start accusing each other of killing him.
  • Zig-Zagged: At first Travis doesn't believe Leluch couldn't have caused his own death until his fiance Ally mentions he was on anti-depressants. He ends up clearing every suspect from his list, until he realizes he forgot to check his house staff. After they're cleared he reviews to the others he killed himself, however Mabel jumps up and accuses Travis. She is a Cloudcuckoolander however, so she can't be right... can she?
  • Averted: Leluch's bulter and bodyguard bith vouch they saw him getting murdered by someone else.
  • Enforced: "I'm sick of the same old formula of murderer and victim... let's mash the two together!"
  • Lampshaded: Travis doesn't reveal the murderer, but tells the suspects not to worry about the killer getting one of them next before he exits.
  • Invoked: Leluch didn't want to risk someone making a Dying Message if he killed, so who better to target than himself?
  • Exploited: His corrupt business partner Randy figures it out early, but decides to use him as a patsy to cover his crimes.
  • Defied: Travis makes sure to check for ways the victim could have brought it upon theselves first.
  • Discussed:
Travis: "It seems we might not have a living culprit this time Watson."
Watson: "Sir... what do you mean by that?"
  • Conversed:
Jase: "You know in these detective shows you can never let anyone go at the start... even the dead themself.
Ruth: "What? But if there's only one, surely someone else must have killed them?"
Jase: "Oh believe me, you can always see something new."
