Basic Trope: A character's birthday has a significant meaning.

  • Straight: Bob was born on Friday the 13th.
  • Exaggerated: All of the characters have birthdays relating to something important: Sam was born on the Fourth of July, Valentino was born on Valentine's Day, Ernest was born on Thanksgiving, Winter was born on Christmas, Sally was born on Halloween, Patrick was born on Saint Patrick's Day...
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob wasn't necessarily Born Unlucky, but is a bit of The Klutz, which is emphasized by his birthday of Friday the 13th.
    • Bob wasn't actually born on Friday the 13th, but on a day close to it.
  • Justified: The setting operates on When the Planets Align or similar; one's date of birth has to do with what kind of person they end up being.
  • Inverted: Bob was Born Lucky, but he was born on Friday the 13th.
  • Subverted: ???
  • Double Subverted: ???
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted:
    • No one's birthday is ever mentioned.
    • Bob's birthday is just a random date.
  • Enforced:
    • The creators are trying to go for symbolism.
    • Can be a way to add a Significant Reference Date, if the birthday is something such as the character's first appearance, or the creator/actor/etc's birth date in real life.
  • Lampshaded: "You were born on Friday the 13th? Well, that explains a lot."
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed:
    • "With how much of a Walking Disaster Area Bob is, I wouldn't be surprised if he was born on Friday the 13th."
    • "Our kid was born on a holiday — I wonder if that'll mean anything about him later in life."
  • Conversed: "When they bring up a character's birthday in fiction, there's usually a reason why they're said to have been born on that particular day."
