Basic Trope: A monster that's also an honorable warrior.

  • Straight: In Tales of Troperia VIII, The Ogre Senko is an honorable knight, combining his natural monstrous athleticism with the graceful art of swordsmanship.
  • Exaggerated: An entire regiment is comprised of monsters from any and every race, all of them having perfected the graceful art of swordsmanship.
  • Downplayed:
    • Senko is just a tad bit smarter than other ogres, but he still relies on brute strength to get the job done.
    • Senko is a wandering knight or something more akin to a Rōnin; A monster who had someone to protect, but that someone's dead now and now he's Walking the Earth.
  • Justified: Senko was the very first of honorable knights because he was sick and tired of having to be a monster all the time; He wished to train in the similar arts that those quaint little humans did with their shiny metal sticks.
  • Inverted: ???
  • Subverted: Senko may look like a knight, but really, all he knows is downwards cleaving and just about nothing else.
  • Double Subverted: That is, until he decides that he really needs to get dangerous, and shows off some Implausible Fencing Powers and Ludicrous Mêlée Accuracy.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig-Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Monsters aren't tamed at all, let alone trained into knights; Only are they reviled and hunted down, sometimes to extinction.
  • Enforced: Rule of Cool.
  • Lampshaded: "An ogre that's also a knight? Now I've seen it all."
  • Invoked: The Tropeland Military hires monsters because able-bodied human people (both men and women) are rapidly dwindling and they're going to need all the help they can get.
  • Exploited: (From Exaggerated) The Monster Regiment is used as a force comprised of shock troops, giving invaluable reinforcements to whatever the other squadrons are doing.
  • Defied: The Tropeland Military doesn't believe that monsters can't be knights and as such don't hire them.
  • Discussed: "Have you ever heard of Senko? He's the big ogre in a metal suit." "I can't believe they're stuffing monsters in there now."
  • Conversed: "Wow, a Monster AND a knight? That's so cool!"
  • Implied: While actual Monster Knights are never shown, we do get to see bizarrely crafted armor sets and weaponry that look like they were explicitly designed to fit the local monsters of Tropeland in the main castle hall.

Let the Monster Knight guide you back to the main page; Don't worry, we've tamed him well.
