Basic Trope: A commercial that tells the audience how using a product supposedly feels, but doesn't explain what it actually does.

  • Straight: A Mintee Fresh gum commercial has Alice put a stick of their peppermint gum into her mouth. Cut to a scene with Alice standing naked on top of a mountain and enjoying the cold air.
  • Exaggerated: While standing naked atop Mount Everest, Alice experiences a Disney Acid Sequence of cold and peppermint.
  • Downplayed: Alice engages in some erotic gum-chewing.
  • Justified:
    • The gum actually has psychoactive effects.
    • They couldn't put as much information into the ad as the original Japanese dub.
  • Inverted: Alice simply says, "It's Mintee Fresh!"
  • Subverted:
    • Alice freezes on top of the mountain.
    • Alice simply chews the gum.
  • Double Subverted:
    • But even as a Human Popsicle, she's still smiling and/or just looks like she's had an orgasm.
    • Alice tells the audience it's like standing naked on top of Mount Everest.
  • Parodied:
    • A political ad (or possibly a Public Service Announcement) features beautiful women in Flag Bikinis moaning and breathing heavily and asking the audience "Just Do It!" ... by which they mean vote.
    • Alice has a Naked Freak-Out and runs off screen.
    • The gum actually masgically transports its consumer atop Mount Everest naked, for some reason.
  • Zig Zagged: The ad features Bob asking Alice how the gum tastes. Alice is shown responding in this manner, much to Bob's skepticism, until she finally admits that it just tastes like peppermint.
  • Averted: No such ad campaign.
  • Enforced: "We need to make people want to buy our product."
  • Lampshaded: "Yes, she's naked on top of Mount Everest. No, the gum doesn't do that in real life."
  • Invoked: Mintee Fresh is peppermint gum, no stronger nor weaker in its taste than its competitors, but it's only offered to people who take off their clothes on Mount Everest.
  • Exploited: Sex for Product
  • Defied: Mintee Fresh gum simply tells the audience it's peppermint-flavored.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
