Basic Trope: Important characters get dramatic deaths.
- Straight: Bob is mortally wounded during the Final Battle, dying in Alice's arm complete with a Dying Declaration of Love and him feebly caressing her face.
- Exaggerated:
- Even minor characters get dramatic deaths.
- Even Mooks get dramatic deaths.
- Downplayed: Bob is killed by Emperor Evulz during the Final Battle. His death is a mild Tear Jerker, and Alice is holding back tears as she drags him out of the wreckage.
- Justified: Bob was an important character, and was very well liked by both the characters and the fans.
- Inverted:
- Subverted: Bob is about to give his grand speech...but he is torn in half by a grenade before he can even start.
- Double Subverted: But survives long enough to give his speech before finally dying.
- Parodied: Bob's death is an intentionally Narm-tastic affair, complete with everybody including Emperor Evulz weeping profusely, and him giving a Dying Declaration of Love to every single female character (including those he's related to and the ones he hadn't met yet) ...and several of the male characters!
- Zig-Zagged: Some of the important characters get dramatic deaths, others... don't.
- Averted: Bob's death is not any more dramatic than anybody else's.
- Enforced: "He's one of the protagonists! You can't just have him die like... like... like you'd kill off some random bunch of Mooks!"
- Lampshaded: "That was... uh... a bit over-the-top."
- Invoked: ???
- Exploited: Evulz uses the distraction to escape, or, alternately, to kill the heroes.
- Defied: ???
- Discussed: ???
- Conversed: ???
- Implied: ???
- Deconstructed: ???
- Reconstructed: ???
- Played For Laughs: Bob swats a mosquito. The scene then cuts to the mosquito dying in his wife's arms, telling her to carry on without him, before taking one last dying breath...
- Played For Drama: This trope's default.
