Basic Trope: The Hero's most prominent enemy.

  • Straight: Emperor Evulz plots world domination and is Hiro's main enemy.
  • Exaggerated: Emperor Evulz plots the world's demise, and is Hiro's most despised enemy.
  • Downplayed: Dracone is Hiro's prominent rival.
  • Justified: Hiro is always the one to put an stop to Emperor Evulz's evil schemes. Evulz took this very personally.
  • Inverted: Lance is Hiro's greatest friend/ally.
  • Subverted: Evulz and Hiro turn out to be Friendly Enemies.
  • Double Subverted: It appeared to be a front on Evulz's part and the two are enemies again.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Hiro doesn't have a particular hated enemy.
  • Enforced: The writer wants to spice up his series which revolves around a Slice of Life setting by giving Hiro an enemy.
  • Lampshaded: "Well, well, if it isn't my persistent adversary, Hiro."
  • Invoked: "My life is boring as a hero. I need an enemy. Or should I say, THE enemy."
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: No matter how many schemes Hiro ruins or how many atrocities Evulz commits, both insist that it's Nothing Personal.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "My god, these two were destined to fight to the death."
  • Deconstructed:
    • Hiro and Emperor Evulz have become used to battling each other for so long that when one of them is finally defeated, the other isn't sure what to do with their life anymore, and finds it has become empty.
    • A version of this story ends up killing one or the other without their opposite involved, because it turns out being arch-enemies doesn't prevent them from being targeted and destroyed without the interference of the other. This throws everyone off guard, because they never fathomed the idea that arch enemies could die without the other ever being part of the process.
  • Played For Laughs: Sitcom Arch-Nemesis
