The Goosebumps Most Wanted Special Edition book where a kid deals with zombies on Halloween.

Kenny Manzetti is the new kid in town, his family having moved to be closer to his grandfather. But the entire town is obsessed with zombies, and the new family next door is pretty weird. So Kenny decides to find out the truth about them, which he may end up regretting.

This book provides examples of:

  • Actually Not a Vampire: Trevor is a reverse example. He and his family are thought to be zombies. They aren't — they're vampires.
  • Adults Are Useless: Averted with Mo/Mario's mother, who actually believes them about the zombies because she heard the stories prior. Played more straight with Kenny's parents, who do the usual thing of not believing them at one point even playing a little prank, claiming to see it.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: In the prologue, Mario has Anthony, who is always trying to scare him.
  • The Cameo: During R.L. Stine's introduction, he mentions that the Abominable Snowman is behind you.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The Zombie Goop Loops candy, which they use to ward off the zombies.
  • Coincidental Broadcast: Just as the kids are on edge about zombies, they see a news broadcast showing some teens telling a story about seeing some zombies.
  • Darker and Edgier: It has its moments compared to most of Most Wanted, such as Ivy being turned undead in the prologue.
  • Dad's Off Fighting in the War: The father of the protagonist's grandfather left to fight during World War II. He eventually died in the war.
  • Death of a Child: Undeath in this case, in the prologue Ivvy is caught by the zombies and turned into one of them.
  • Distant Prologue: The first section is a prologue set some decades prior to set up the backstory.
  • Secret Underground Passage: There is a trapdoor in the basement of the Manzetti house that leads to hidden tunnels that contain the zombies.
  • Puppy Love: Tricia has a crush on Kenny's friend Alec, and it's the only reason she sometimes hangs around the two.
  • Shout-Out: The kids watch a TV show called The Walking Zombies.
  • Themed Party: The Manzetti's host a zombie themed party for Halloween.
