Heartwarming / Astral Cabal

Go To

  • Akemi walking up to Jaz and hugging her during chapter 2's trial, telling Jaz that Jaz has been plenty useful during the investigation, even more so than Akemi has been (and Akemi, as a Ripperologist, studies these murders for a living).
  • Haruka in chapter 2's trial hugging Akemi and saying she doesn't hate her.
  • In the third trial, after Hirashi gets punched in the face and has a panic attack, Nao steps over to his podium and starts to comfort him.
  • Miwa's crush on Mikazuki.
  • In Akemi's dorm, among the many notes she keeps, there's a simple one from Jaz that reads, "Please don’t worry. I don’t hate you. Jaz."
  • Being a Dangan Ronpa-based roleplay, Astral Cabal is of course not conducive to characters being able to keep their promises, so it's heartwarming when Mikazuki is able to keep her promise to Miwa's body that Miwa's murderer would be brought to justice; the correct person is executed in that chapter, avenging Miwa.
  • Mikazuki in chapter 6's trial trying her hardest to comfort Jaz.
  • Monomi's usually a Butt-Monkey character in most Dangan Ronpa media, so it's heartwarming that in chapter 8, Jaz and Yasu take the time to fix her and restore her to life after Monobear broke her earlier in chapter 5.
  • In chapter 1's trial of Astral Black, it's heartwarming when Jackson gently soothes Valentina when Valentina has trouble accepting that the victim is in fact dead, and not merely sleeping.
  • Henri's general attitude in Astral Blue is heartwarming. He believes himself to be a king, not just a mere castle actor. That's normally the kind of attitude that would make someone arrogant and haughty. Instead, in Henri's case, he decides that all of his classmates are his subjects and thus he is honor bound to protect them. Instead of thinking himself as "king, ruler of the kingdom", Henri thinks of himself as "king, defender of his subjects". And when the class mistrials in chapter 1's trial, and the true culprit confesses, Henri starts yelling at the true culprit because Henri feels that two innocent members of his kingdom have died for no reason.
    • Henri also cheerfully and voluntarily accepts his upcoming execution as chapter 2's murderer, since in his view, the Ultimate Sacrifice is the king's own death for his people, not merely the death of the wicked.
  • In Astral Blue, Marco usually hates touching people, but he takes some time to carry Elara out of the courtroom after her guilt-induced fainting after chapter 1's mistrial.
  • After Astral Black's chapter 3 trial, Mari finds a note from Dimitri, the chapter 3 culprit, explaining that Dimitri didn't mean what he said when he kept insulting everyone else; actually, Dimitri had lied about why he killed the victims, it wasn't really because Hijiri had said something mean to him. In fact, Dimitri actually killed them for the sake of his grandfather, and he closes the letter by talking about how precious a friend Mari was to him.
