Narnian centaurs, such as Roonwit in The Last Battle, are all able to see future timelines written in the stars. How, then, were the ones who escorted Eustace and Jill seemingly unaware that King Caspian would later die that very day? The passing of a monarch seconds after reuniting with his long-lost son is too significant to simply not be included in a kingdom's timeline, so unless the skies were cloudy that night (they weren't) it would have been impossible for them to miss. Of course, they could have been hiding the truth from the trio to soften the blow, but they didn't show a single sign of sadness before Caspian's passing despite knowing it would happen, which, considering the nobility of the centaurs, would be odd.

  • Likely it's because they didn't see him dying that very same day. They already knew he was going to die, after all he was incredibly old when he was leaving at the beginning of the story, so they didn't bother questioning for the exact hour of death because they already knew it was inevitable.
