• In a meta sense, the ridiculously negative fan reception to the VR game's "Titan Dolphin", which is a...bipedal land dolphin resembling a Spinosaurus. Barring the Continuity Snarl of a mammal in 200 myf ^note  the series itself established that the last mammals died out 100 myf, and those were rodents, not dolphins , where they were stated to be extinct, the resulting design of the titan dolphin is just...hilariously hideous and implausible.
• The father carakiller spots an armor plated rattleback trying to eat his eggs and responds by trying to peck him to death. Thanks to the armor plating, it doesn't work. And then, he keeps trying!
  • The moment where he first tries is an excellent Mood Whiplash; he brings his beak down on the rattleback and we're all expecting the poor creature to meet its doom...and the Carakiller's attack has no effect. What really makes it funny is the way he pauses just after striking the thing, as if to say "Wait what!?".
• There's something hilarious about the Desert Hopper being a snail that hops around on its single foot.
• While watching the sequence with the squibbons and the megasquid, imagine the whole thing as a squibbon Saturday-Morning Cartoon. It fits perfectly.
• "It makes the megasquid sneeze".
  • To explain: In order to reproduce, the slithersucker (a giant slime mold) takes over the body of a passing megasquid by dismissing itself as a fruit so the megasquid will eat it. It does what the line above says, causing parts of itself to be splattered over a wide area; each of these will grow into a new slithersucker.
  • The same episode has a bit of Black Comedy comes from Bruce Tiffney, one of the scientists, after he's described the slithersucker hunting and devours a forest flish.
