Awesome / The Future Is Wild

Go To

  • Let's hear one for the sharks. 200 million years in the future, after the annihilation of almost all vertebrates, including most of the fish, sharks are STILL the top predator in the seas. And what's different about them in the future? They glow to communicate and are better at working together. All the other features of sharkopaths exist in modern sharks.
    • Not exactly surprising; sharks have been around since before the dinosaurs came to be and they already survived four separate mass extinctions, so the idea that sharks would still be alive, kicking and as hardcore as ever in the future isn't too farfetched. After all, it takes more than a little mass-extinction to kill them!
    • Another one for fish as a whole. Not only did they survive the biggest mass extinction in Earth's history, some of them learned how to fly.
  • Introducing the adult Toraton. Back off, tiny creatures.
  • The Ocean Phantom reproduces by riding the future world's super hurricanes, allowing itself to be torn to pieces, all of which will create new Phantoms.
  • The fact that there exists a documentary (a speculative one, but still) which implies that squid people might one day take over the Earth is quite awesome in itself.
    • And just like the sharks, let's here one for the cephalopods. They've been around since the very beginning of complex life on Earth, and after over 730 million years of evolution, they rise to not only fill the niches left behind by most vertebrates, but may even sow the seeds for a new civilization on Earth.
