• In Attract Mode, press and hold A, B and C. Sonic will go in the wrong direction, refuse to jump and in some cases voluntarily kill himself.
• What Dr. Robotnik does after the credits, depending on whether you collected all the Chaos Emeralds or not.
  • If you missed at least one, Robotnik stands on top of text reading "TRY AGAIN". He grins at you while juggling the remaining emerald(s).
  • If you collected them all, Robotnik angrily stomps on the "END" logo repeatedly.
• The commercials for the game:
  • One commercial features the president of Humans Against Genesis complaining about Sonic's character, asking "Why can't he be more like that nice boy, Mario?" As she does this, Sonic mocks her from inside the framed picture and runs away when she tries to grab him.
  • In another commercial, a salesman is at a video game store, trying to sell the then-newly released Super Nintendo Entertainment System with the Super Mario World game to a customer for $199.95. The game is shown alongside a Sega Genesis playing Sonic, and unfortunately for the salesman, the game's fast action and the Genesis' price of $149.99 manage to convince the customer to buy Sonic. This commercial even got homaged in 2018 to promote Sonic Mania Plus.
