• About two thirds through the sequel, Cocheta finally gets through to the military HQ and we get this exchange:
  Cocheta: HQ! Answer, Goddammit!
  Military Dispatcher: What? Who's this?
  Cocheta: Delta-2! We need a pick-up near Northside Park!
  Military Dispatcher: [hysterically] What do you want me to do?
  Cocheta: Send a pick-up, you moron!
• One of John's lines for running over a civilian in the first game is a cheeky nod to Night of the Living Dead (1990).
  John: You bunch of yo-yos!
  • One of his lines is a reference to the famous Boom, Headshot! meme when he runs over a zombie or a soldier. It also helps that his voice actor, Joshua Tomar, has a pretty similar voice to the one in the classic video.
• The dissonance of a military chopper firing 30 mm chaingun and Hellfire missiles at you while desperately yelling: "STOP! THIS IS A MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY!" and "STOP! OR YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE DESTROYED!" is as jarring as it sounds.
• The first commander's gradually more frustrated responses for the checkpoint crews failing to stop Creasman. As well as the soldiers reporting it in a way that they're afraid of the commander chewing them out.
  Checkpoint 1: Checkpoint to Base! We're unable to stop our target! It's continuing its run on Highway 65!
  HQ Commander: You couldn't stop a single car!

  Checkpoint 2: Checkpoint to Base! We confirm a black car coming our way. Orders are to take him out?
  HQ Commander: Affirmative!

  Checkpoint 2: Checkpoint to Base.,, Uhhh... the target is still going.
  HQ Commander: Are you kidding me?! Maintain your position. The next checkpoint will handle him.

  HQ Commander: Base to Checkpoint 4! Stop this prick, will ya?!
  Checkpoint 4: We'll try, sir!

  HQ Commander: This is a bad joke! DAMN it!
