Cat claws! (hiss)
  • One episode of Knife or Death features two contestants in Dead Run who are both named Jeff, giving rise to this exchange between the cohosts after both runs completed.
Bill: "There were parts of the run where Jeff was faster, and there were parts of the run where Jeff was faster."
Tu: "I disagree. I think there were parts of the run where Jeff was faster, and other parts where Jeff was faster."
Bill: /stares at the camera dead-eyed
    Bill: "Now you've confused me."
    • It's a little subtler in a later episode when the two finalists are both named Dan. Still:
    Bill: "Betcha Dan's gonna win."
Tu: (smirking) "I'll bet you Dan's gonna win, too."
  • Some of the judges' reactions when they notice a bladesmith doing something particularly strange or risky.
    • During the Scottish Claymore episode, one contestant's blade failed to pierce the pig carcass used for the kill test, instead bending around it. The contestant was able to get it straightened out, and it was able to cut a steel sheet pretty well, resulting in the contestant commenting that maybe they should have made the pig out of steel. Also, the reason he got that chance to straighten it? His opponent's blade shattered on its first swing against the carcass!
    • During the Fan Favorites episode, Will asks Dave what he would like the final weapon to be. His response? "Lightsaber." Everyone present cracks up.
    • One contestant was a former Army Ranger who served in 2nd Battalion, which Wil mentioned. Wil then told him he wouldn't be allowed to proceed unless he said that 3rd Battalion (where Wil served) was the best battalion. The man shrugs and turns away as if he's leaving, causing the panel to lose it.
    • During the The Landsknecht Sword episode, Ben Abbott calculates the speed of the grinder. Dave Baker says, "You're getting math on me. Stop it."
    • "Bladesmiths, you have one hour to finish... your bananas!"note
    • The first part of Armed Forces Tournament special had the contestants choosing weapons to craft while seeing only their handles. For second challenge they choose 5, stating it looks like a machete. It was a small axe with disproportionally large handle instead.
    • One of the episodes had one of the contestants proclaiming that he had a long and hard blade, prompting Wil to say "said no wife ever".
  • J.'s obvious pain when other members of the panel start punning is hilarious, the more so when they're deliberately doing it to troll him.
    • Case in point: during Season 7's General Patton's Sword, Doug just finished the KEAL test and introduced the Strength test (carried out by Nielsen) this way. Nielsen's facial expressions after the joke say everything:
Doug: Bladesmiths, your General Patton's sabers will KEAL. For that you deserve a general pat on the back.
  • Several during Season 7's French Pioneer Sword episode, whose first and second rounds had the bladesmiths forging a chef's knife:
    • The first part of the competition took part outdoors. Before the bladesmiths were introduced, we see Wil chasing a chicken. The judges, meanwhile, played The Comically Serious, chuckling at the whole scene.
    • At one point during round 2, Ben calls one of the medics for some inspection. (Ben Abbott lampshades it by saying it's a little "Ben Ben Boo-Boo") He then proceeds to shift the medic to the other side.
Wil: There's swing dance in the Forge now, baby!
    • At the end of round 2, Steven proceeds to test how sharp his chef's knife is by shaving his own leg. Cue Ben Abbott's reaction:
Ben Abbott: I'm not eating the food at his house.
    • Prior to the round 2 Edge Retention test, Doug has to go for his "safety gear", which turns out to be... a run-of-the-mill kitchen apron with the inscription "Kiss the Chef". He even smooches one of the opponents.
  • In the horror-themed Season 7 special "Forge of Fear", at one point during round 1, J put a Jason mask and got behind one of the smiths, with the smith in question being worried about being watched. Cue the laugh of the rest of the panel.
  • The Bagh Nakh episode had the bladesmiths recreating a pair of the titular weapons, basically a blade with four concealed claws on the palm side. For the KEAL test, Doug lended the honors to his brother R.J., who proceeded to perform slashes, thrusts and claws towards the pig carcasses. After the KEAL test, both Doug and R.J. proceeded to have a bit of fun.
Doug: Well R.J., I can see that your fighting skills haven't changed since we were kids, you still scratch like a girl. Cat claws! (they proceed to scratch each other)
  • Even the bladesmiths themselves can get into the fun!
    • The movie-themed Dave Baker Judge Takeover episode had the two finalists being tasked with building a fantasy broadsword. Once they were given their tasks, the two of them skipped out of the Forge.
