- In "Acid Rain", Nerv identifies the one responsible for causing the acid rain as President Donald Lincoln, who is represented as a photograph of George W. Bush's face with spindly arms and glaring eyebrows scrawled on who is seated in the Oval Office, accompanied by Bowser's Evil Laugh from Hotel Mario.
- At the end of "Evaporate 5", Nintendo (represented by a bunch of Marios wearing black shirts and sunglasses) show up to issue a cease and desist on Nerv's Mario and Wario fan film while chanting "We at Nintendo will sue your ass". After Nerv is forced to pay royalties to make them go away, he winds up destitute and on the street. After asking how this can get any worse, Plankton shows up to vaporize him while laughing maniacally.
- After taking a time elevator to the year 0 in "Evaporate 19", Nerv runs into a wizard with a Simpleton Voice.Wizard: (guffaws) Hey, fucker! This is the year 0. You're stuck here forever. Uh, is "fuck" a bad word, a bad word? Is "fuck" a bad word, a bad word?
