While the movie is mostly psychological horror, there are some comedic moments that one can expect of a Team Fortress 2 animation.

Moment Subpages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

  • Jane Doe smokes Lucky Strike cigarettes, which is a real brand, but also most certainly a reference to the Soldier's infamously frequent random crits with his rocket launcher, which usually mean a One-Hit Kill for whoever it's pointed at.
  • The fact that Jane Doe calls the Heavy "Stalingrad" before killing him. He later snarks at a furious Detective that "oh...so you were just talking?"
  • Soldier trying to talk into a police radio that the Detective says "only transmits", and it works! It quickly turns into Nightmare Fuel when the poor officer on the other side is killed by the Undertaker.
  • The Detective introducing him and Jane as federal agents "Detective Mannix" and "Lieutenant Columbo" to the police. Unsurprisingly, their chief asks for a background check to be done on them.
  • Jane Doe walking into Ludwig's office, only to scream upon seeing a model of a skeleton. He then tells the Detective that it's the killer's latest victim.
Morneau: "It's a model, you idiot!"
  • While advancing, feral zombies are rarely comedic, the three undead mercs that try to fit through a doorway at the same time end up giving each other looks that say "Really, guys?" before the exasperated undead Heavy pushes through instead.
  • Archibald's conversation with Blutarch where he pitches the mercenaries and Respawn Machine is full of Black Comedy, with Archibald implying that both of them were behind the JFK assassination, that he had to make a pregnancy machine at some point, and him referring to 90 percent of the death row prisoners dying as a "slight hiccup". The JFK assassination comes up later as a Brick Joke during Jules' funeral.
Blutarch: "I met him in 1960. Right after the election. He was going on and on: How do we get rid of this son-of-a-bitch?"
  • During the climax of the film, Redmond comes across Blutarch's dead body, and rejoices that he outlived his brother... only to be immediately run over and killed by Ludwig.
    • And just before Ludwig steals the truck he takes, the way he gets run over is funny in and of itself.
    • Before that, Blutarch tells his driver to run all the red lights — "What are they good for, anyway?!" He's immediately involved in a head-on collision.
  • After Jane finds himself in a debriefing room, his attention is drawn to a medical room nearby where The Detective is being treated for his injuries. How do we know it's him and not one of the thousands of other corpses that were littering the place after it was burnt to the ground? He's still smoking that damn cigarette even as he's being treated for full-body third degree burns.
