- When the orphans enter Not-Wonka's factory, Edward notices the "chocolate" river and has some, but Not-Wonka tells him it's actually the sewer line. That moment is actually an inversion of its equivalent in the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, where the kids, upon seeing the chocolate river, think it is the sewer or something else that's equally disgusting.
- This also applies to the sex scene with Mystique... in the actual films and certain comics, she is known to also transform into women who are seen as conventionally attractive in order to seduce or get it on with men. In this film, she is also conventionally attractive, being played by the stunning Carmen Electra, who uses this trope during a sex scene to get it on with Peter, who requests a larger pair of breasts and a bigger ass... however, it's then inverted when he requests her to grow a unibrow and give herself an incredibly flabby and fat grandma body. While Peter seems to be excited over this, she obviously was not supposed to be seen as a BBW from the audience's perspective, but an inversion of the common scenes and ideas of Mystique shapeshifting herself to become conventionally beautiful, by having her become a disgusting old grandma right before she's about to fully get it on with Peter.
Fridge Horror
- Just imagine being in Peter's position at the end of his sex scene with Mystique. While you were formerly being straddled and seduced by a sexy thick blue Carmen Electra, that sexy woman has suddenly morphed into an extremely obese flabby grandma, with flabby arms, wrinkles, extensive back flab, a unibrow, crossed glossed over yellow eyes, a wart on her chin, and long nose hairs coming out of her nose. But despite the sudden horrifying change in appearance, Mystique is smiling, getting back into it, and eager to have sex. Imagine being under an obese flabby blue scaly grandma, still with the mind and sex drive of a sexy promiscuous lady, as she forcefully makes out with you using her big fat tongue, followed by aggressive love making and sex... while Peter may have enjoyed it, any other man would've likely been horrified in his position.
