A builder, Ricky (Kris Hitchen), takes a zero-hour contract as a delivery driver. The choice sets off a series of events that disturbs his entire family, including his teenage son Seb and his carer wife Abby (Debbie Honeywood).

  • Beware the Nice Ones: A subtle example. Ricky and Abby's daughter Eliza is actually the person who steals Ricky's keys, not their son Seb.
  • Bolivian Army Ending: Ricky drives away with a severe wound, with Seb and Abby chasing after him but not catching up.
  • Downer Ending: Ricky took the job as a delivery driver (forcing his wife to sell her car so he could buy his own van which made her job as a district nurse considerably harder) in the hopes of making enough money to pull himself and his family out of debt and hopefully even make them enough to buy a house as they were sick of renting and being at the whim of landlords. In the end, Ricky ends up far worse off than he was before; he is badly injured from an assault and owes so much money to Maloney in fines and damages it'll take him years to pay it off. He has been battered physically, mentally and financially and is now essentially trapped in a job he has come to hate. The final scene has him still badly injured and in pain driving to work in tears despite his family pleading with him to stop.
  • Mean Boss: Ricky's delivery boss is a violent, aggressive, unsympathetic bully.
  • No Ending: The film ends with Ricky driving away from his family to a job, injured.
