999-9999 is a 2002 Thai horror movie.
The movie centers on a haunted phone number, when it's called immediately after midnight, are said to grant any wish immediately the day after, but at the end of the day the one who have their wish granted has to pay... with their lives...
This film contains examples of:
- Asshole Victim: Moo Priew, the Fat Bastard who encouraged the rest to use the phone number to grant wishes.
- Book Ends: The story begins with Rainbow moving to a new school from an old one where grisly deaths happened, and ends with Rainbow moving to a new school, seemingly carrying the rumor with her.
- Cruel and Unusual Death: Seemingly taking cue from Final Destination, though more supernatural, all of the deaths are gory and grisly.
- Downer Ending: All the group of students are dead. Rainbow moves to other school just like the beginning of the movie, and it's implied that the new group of the student fell for the curiosity.
- Final Girl: Rainbow before the movie and after the movie.
- Foreshadowing: At least two in the beginning, a lecture about the legend of Pandora's Box by a random teacher (which is how the curiosity of the number end up killing the cast), and the main character Sun got a cut from a loose sharp pipe in his hideout (Which is how he meets his end).
- Haunted Technology: A haunted phone number.
- Schmuck Bait: The rumors always involve a girl called Rainbow, who urges the group of schoolkids who knew that she's involved with the dead students, not to call the number. Only for the group except for Rainbow to immediately fell into curiosity.
