These are recommendations made by Tropers for Alvin and the Chipmunks fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on their respective pages. Feel free to add a recommendation of your own to the appropriate list, but remember to use the template found here.
You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. You can do it by expanding on the synopsis and/or pertinent tags, or linking similar or related fanfics. Reviews are also encouraged, but please make sure to make reviews have substance; if you simply want to recommend a fic without an extensive review, put your Troper name in the Recommended by line of the fic in question.
Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page. No-name recommendations will be zapped. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

- Synopsis: Alvin blames himself when Theodore is involved in a terrible accident. How will he cope with the guilt, and how will the other two chipmunks survive the aftermath of the accident? Will Theodore himself survive?
- Pairing(s): Alvin/Brittany, Theodore/Eleanor
- Comment: A classic. A very tragic, yet well written story about redemption. It takes place in the 80s cartoon continuity, but has the characters aged up as high schoolers. It is followed up by a sequel, Justifying the Means
, but it is a dead fic.
The Nutty Ballad of David Seville by T. Funk the Coolmunk

- Synopsis: David Seville is a struggling songwriter who lives in a shabby cabin in the middle of the woods. During a blizzard he tries to write a hit song to get him out of poverty. Little does his know his life is going to change when he gets 3 unexpected visitors.
- Comment: An overview of the life of Dave Seville: how he gains his passion for songwriting, the obstacles he faces trying to live his dream, and his first meeting with the Chipmunks. It's all well-done, with believable characterization and scenarios. This story doesn't follow a particular continuity, but incorporates elements from the cartoons, live action films, and even draws inspiration from the real life Ross Bagdasarian Sr.
The Dealbreaker by noticehowoureyes

- Synopsis: In their attempts to eavesdrop on Dave and his latest date, the Chipmunks overhear something that has them wondering if they're standing in the way of their guardian's happiness.
- Comment: This little oneshot poses a question often wondered: what Dave's dates/girlfriends think of him being the father of chipmunks. It's pretty heartbreaking, but overall cute and sweet. Based on the 80s cartoon, and reads like it, too.
Shipping Fics

- Synopsis: The Chipmunks and Chipettes are going on a much-anticipated summer tour across the country. The now-teenaged Chipmunks are about to discover adventure, romance, heartache, friendship, and tons of fun during the summer they'll never forget!
- Pairing(s): Alvin/Brittany, Simon/Jeanette, Theodore/Eleanor
- Comment: This story gets the characters down pat, even in the dialogue. It is in the 80s cartoon universe, and it makes references to it, but the characters are aged up to teenagers. This author does an excellent job capturing the spirit of the cartoon, but also adding the aspect that they're older. And there's music, lots of music, given that's a staple of the franchise. Even though the story is about them on a concert tour, it's very focused on the romances of each of the Chipmunk/Chipette couples. And amid the teen drama, it's also chockfull of humorous moments that are at least chuckle worthy.
