Worlds Apart
by MicahÜ inserts an Elven princess into the film version of The Hobbit. Orcs kidnap the princess Nymeria and destroy her home. She escapes, and meets a party of dwarves (and Bilbo and Gandalf). The story then visits the The Stations of the Canon while Nymeria falls into an Interspecies Romance with Kili.
Not to be confused with Worlds Apart (MLP), a My Little Pony Tales fanfic.
Worlds Apart provides examples of:
- Action Girl: Nymeria. She throws knives, shoots arrows, wields a sword, and has good aim.
- And Now You Must Marry Me: Orcs kidnap Nymeria and try to force her to marry Azog.
- Bottomless Magazines: Justified because Nymeria carries a magic quiver that can always produce more arrows.
- Damsel out of Distress: Nymeria. Some orcs kidnap her, but they make some stupid mistakes, like not tying her hands. Nymeria finds her chance and makes her own escape.
- Easily Conquered World: The Southern Woods, a kingdom of Elves, where Nymeria is a princess among Elves. By chapter II, the kingdom is lost, and Orcs are in the palace. The fan author invented this kingdom just to provide a homeless princess to insert into The Hobbit.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Nymeria is an Elf, her father is an Elf, but her mother is of the race of Men.
- Interspecies Romance: Nymeria the Elf with Kili the Dwarf. By Chapter VIII, Nymeria is blushing when she looks at Kili.
- Love Triangle: Azog wants to marry Nymeria. Nymeria has undeclared love for Kili. Elphira, an Elf of Rivendell, also wants Kili.
- Sailor Earth: Nymeria, as the new character in Thorin's company.
- The Stations of the Canon: The first six chapters have their own plot, but Chapter VII reaches the station from The Hobbit where the dwarves meet the three trolls. After this, the story follows the rails of The Hobbit.
