- Born Unlucky: Sakura considers herself this.
- Bungled Suicide: Prior to the story taking place, Ai was at such a bad place mentally that she slashed her wrist in what is all but directly stated to be an attempt to kill herself. It's thanks to Junko finding her that she ends up surviving.
- Career-Ending Injury: Ai's career as an idol was cut short after being struck by lightning. While she survived this, the injuries she sustained were too much.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Everyone who was a zombie in the original is alive and well here. Ai and Junko deserve special mention as it's explicitly stated they went through the same accidents that killed them in canon.
- Trauma Button: Ai's accident has caused her to gain a massive fear of lightning to the point that she ends up curling up in a ball and crying when she hears or sees it.
