"Total Pokemon isn't directly based off Pokemon by itself, but rather based off Pokemon and Digimon Frontier. If you’ve seen Digimon Frontier before, you'll know that the main characters TURN into Digimon. Total Pokemon does that."
Author's summary of the story.

Total Pokemon is a series of fanfics based on Total Drama which originated on the Total Drama Amino. The story follows Mike, who has been cured of his MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) and survived a murderous free-for-all. He wakes up later in an arena with several islands inside it, finding out he has a ring. It turns out this ring can turn him into a Latios, and everyone in the arena has one which allows them to turn into Pokemon. Nobody knows what will happen, but with Chris McLean in control of their lives once again it can't be good.

Total Pokemon demonstrates the following tropes:

  • Arc Villain: Oh my god, there are A LOT of arc villains in the planning stage. The first and second arc's villains will Lightning, Jo, and Topher, only for Topher to seemingly be killed off by the end of the first arc. The main antagonist role switches over to Ezekiel (well, Ezekiel as a Ho-Oh when he fuses with his Fearow) during the Ho-Oh arc. Jacques and Josee then become the main antagonists during the Frozen Wasteland arc. The Nova arc's main antagonists are planned to be evil clones of Cameron and DJ. For most of the time, Alejandro is the main antagonist until he is finally killed off in the Hellbent arc. No other arcs are planned beyond that plank yet, but it will be confirmed to continue.
  • Fusion Dance: The main antagonist of the Ho-Oh arc is a Ho-Oh which was formed when Ezekiel accidentally fuses with his Fearow.
    • Bridgette, Geoff and Brody can fuse into a Kyogre.
    • Jacques and Josee can fuse into a Kyruem.
  • Blow You Away: Played with. Mike's Pokemon form, Latios, can fly, and Ezekiel is the Type Master of Flying.
  • Green Thumb: DJ is the Type Master of Grass, as well as his Pokemon form being a Deciduceye.
  • High-Altitude Battle: The scene in the first episode where Mike, Courtney and Gwen chase a Garchomp holding Duncan active plays out like this, since Gwen allows the other two to hold onto her group of Mismagiuses to speed up the process.
  • Making a Splash: Bridgette, Geoff, and Brody are the Type Masters of Water.
  • Playing with Fire: Alejandro is the Type Master of Fire.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Topher manages to pull this off TWICE, when he is seemingly burnt to a crisp when McArthur's truck explodes in the Beginning arc. It turns out he escaped at the last second, and the ashes found in the rubble were were those of his Sawk. In the Diamond Days arc, he is again seemingly killed. This time by Alejandro cracking his neck. This turns out to simply be acting so Topher can come back as a calvary for Alejandro later down the line.
  • Shock and Awe: Lightning is the Type Master of Electric.
  • Transformation Trinket: The Chris McLean Brand Ring is one of these, since it allows humans to turn into Pokemon, Pokemon to evolve quicker, people to fuse with their Pokemon, and a lot more.
