Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Silver Resistance: Mystery of the Heart is a Fan Fic by Diego Zeyon, and serves as a spinoff of sorts to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Silver Resistance.

The story focuses on Zona, a young Vulpix who has lost his family and his hometown to the Master's army. He joins Team Stripes of the Gold Division in a desperate bid to discover himself, but he struggles with trusting his new team...

Notable for expanding upon multiple minor characters and providing a detailed and moving story that can stand alone from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Silver Resistance, but still maintains multiple points of interest for readers of the original story.

And as of the Silver Resistance revision on DeviantArt, this fanfic and Zona are now part of the story's canon. As of August 2016, the story has gone under revision by the author, so this page may see some tweaking.

Tropes featured in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Silver Resistance: Mystery of the Heart

  • Aerith and Bob: The main character's name is "Zona," but his parents go by Amos and Miranda. To say nothing of how this clashes with the naming conventions of the main story.
    • It is revealed, however, that even Zona's parents have long, foreign-sounding names, and is implied to be a Ninetales tradition.
  • Black Bug Room: Zona ends up in one after the failed mission at Blackriver city. Char's call snaps him out of it though.
  • Cheerful Child: Leo, who looks up to Ray, is this. His genuine and happy nature causes Zona to warm to him more quickly than anyone else.
  • Defrosting Ice Prince: Zona, ironically enough. Team Stripes, and especially Leo and Ray, manage to help him through the worst of it.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Ultimately, Team Stripes (and Zona) are dispatched to Leppa Town to advance the plot.
  • Doomed Hometown: Happens before the story even starts. And Zona's mother is responsible for it happening.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Begins after the fact. Zona's mother is the one who attacked and destroyed his hometown.
  • Genius Bruiser: Zona has hints of this, though for much of the story he is too crippled by self-doubt to be an effective fighter. His father implies he is more like his mother, who is no slouch in either department herself.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Eli, which is too short for spoilers, who eventually repents for his previous actions and does his best to make up for them.
  • Improbable Age: Zona is only four years old. It's implied that Pokemon mature more quickly than humans, but still egregious.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Zona feels overshadowed by his father's legacy as a famous team leader in the resistance.
  • Passing the Torch: Discussed and defied. Per the conversation Zona has with his father's memory near the end, Amos originally wanted Zona to be this, and still does, but admits that such desires are selfish and that Zona has every right to be himself.
  • The Mole: Multiple ones. Both of Zona's parents, and the twist is that his father works for the resistance and his mother works for the master.
