My Digital Hero Adventure
is a My Hero Academia/Digimon fanfiction story by PinketteSFX on Archive of Our Own.
Taking cues from the original Digimon Adventure, the story follows several Hero students (Izuku Midoriya, Itsuka Kendo, Kyouka Jiro, Saiko Intelli, Mina Ashido, Camie Utsushimi, and Yui Kodai), suddenly find themselves on an unknown island filled with fantastical creatures called "Digimon", wielding seven strange devices called "Digivices". With these Digivices, along with their chosen Digimon partners, these Hero students embark on an adventure to find a way home.
My Digital Hero Adventure contains the following tropes:
- Arc Villain:
- The Chroma Army acts as one for the first story arc, being led by Boss Gray (Nanomon), whose goal is to create/control Grimmon to Take Over the World.
- On the mainland, the next antagonists they deal with are involved with the Eclipse Circus, led by a mysterious figure who begins kidnapping any allies they make.
- A Boy and His X: In typical Digimon fashion, each of the Chosen have their own partner Digimon.
- Izuku and Spadamon.
- Itsuka and Dracomon.
- Mina and Alraumon.
- Kyouka and Neemon.
- Camie and Labramon.
- Saiko and Bacomon.
- Yui and Candmon.
- Brought Down to Badass: Being stuck in the Digital World somehow weakens the group's Quirks, some more than others. This doesn't mean they won't help their Digimon fight, best shown when Izuku manages to use One for All to beat Grimmon.
- Canon Foreigner: Appmon begin appearing as Digimon, starting in Chapter 16.
- The Chosen Ones: The Hero students are this and are even called this several times. And they're not the first, either.
- Underestimating Badassery: Saiko is utterly flabbergasted that the leader of Chroma Army, Boss Gray, is a little Nanomon, unaware that he's one Level higher than their Digimon. Boss Gray quickly shows her why he's the leader by easily blocking Kentarumon's attack.
- The One Guy: Izuku is, so far, the only boy among the Chosen Ones.
- Ship Tease: Between Izuku and Saiko. They're often paired together whenever the group needs to split up, and at the end of Chapter 17, after learning how Saiko's father refused to give her a teddy bear that resembled a hero who saved her, Izuku gives her a Monzaemon teddy bear.
- Shout-Out: When Boss Gray merges with Grimmon and takes control of it, he begins to quote Unicron.Boss Gray: THERE WAS A TIME... WHEN I CONSIDERED SPARING... YOUR MISERABLE ISLAND... BUT NOW YOU SHALL WITNESS... ITS DISMEMBERMENT!!
- Trapped in Another World: Much like in the original anime, Frontier, and Fusion/Xros Wars, the Hero students all find themselves in the Digital World with no idea on how to get back home.
- Wham Episode:
- Chapter 12: We finally meet Boss Gray and learn what his plans are.
- Chapter 15: After dealing with Hookmon, the Chosen's Digivices suddenly go off, alerting them that another Digivice is nearby.
- Chapter 27: After splitting off to follow eighth Digivice, Saiko, Bacomon, Camie, and Labramon find them. And it turns out the eighth Chosen is Moe Kamiji, AKA the hero Burnin!
- Wham Line:
- Chapter 13 "The Light Of Miracles": "FOOLS... EVEN... IF ALL NINE W-...ERE TOGETHER... COULD NOT... STOP... S-STOP ME…!!" Spoken by Boss Gray/Grimmon, meaning there are two more humans somewhere in the Digital World.
- Chapter 17 "Ten Fingers": When explaining to Izuku why she became a hero, Saiko reveals that she was once saved by a hero when she was five. Thing is, the way she described the hero makes it clear that it was a Monzaemon who saved her. Izuku also implies he was saved by a spider-like Digimon.
