This series contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Inevitable considering the story starts April 13, 2009, roughly 2 years before canon.
    • Panacea appears in the first chapter to aid in Shirou's recovery.
    • Taylor appears in the second chapter alongside her father.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Upon awaking in the hospital, Shirou discovers that Archer's grafted arm has reverted back to his own, thus meaning that he can no longer fight on the level of Heroic Spirits, but even before being given said arm, Shirou was fully capable of, admittedly, magecraft.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Panacea
  • Fingore: Shirou bites off a number of his fingers in the hopes that the shock of the pain will be enough to stifle his Archer's arm-induced rapidly fading memories. It's not.
  • Heroic BSoD: Shirou begins the story fresh off the events of Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel only to awaken to a 5-year time jump in a foreign country in an alternate universe completely isolated with neither the capabilities nor the knowledge necessary to return to his original world, all the while being constantly exposed to heroes whose existence only serves to remind him of the ideals that he threw away.
    Shirou: Am I in hell...?
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Shirou believes that his stranding in an alternate world with no way home is his punishment by a higher power and a deserved one at that.
  • OC: Kenneth, the doctor responsible for Shirou during his stay in the hospital.
  • Suicide Watch: Functionally done by Kenneth over Shirou after the latter questions whether or not he is in hell.
