Demons of a Feather
is the first story in an AU of The Owl House in which a young Luz accidentally falls through a portal into the Demon Realm onto the same island King hatched on, shortly before Eda found the place, with something transforming her overnight into a human/Titan hybrid. Growing up with Eda and King in the Owl House, Eda searches for years for her birth family on Earth but can't find them. At least, not until Owlbert steals a present for Luz from Camila, causing the woman to chase the bird through the portal...
Roost Together is a series of scenes that the author wants to include but don't fit in the main fic.
- Adaptational Badass: Luz is much more skilled than she was at the canon start point of the show when Camila makes her way to the Isles. Besides being just as skilled at glyph magic as she was in the finale (if not more skilled), she's also a talented potioneer, and is being taught by Eda to fight with a staff. Not to mention her half-Titan biology gives her some natural armor.
- Adaptational Early Appearance:
- Willow, Gus, and Amity appear briefly shortly after Camila arrives in the Isles, during the equivalent of "A Lying Witch and a Warden".
- Vee, Raine and the BATTs, Steve, Lilith, and Hunter all appear in Chapter 5, which for all of them but Lilith is well before their canonical debuts.
- Contrived Coincidence:
- A young pre-Eda King's blood falling into a pool makes a short-lived portal to the Demon Realm that Luz randomly falls into when looking to create a protective charm for her father based on a book she'd read.
- It's lampshaded that Camila moving to the same town that the portal is tied to is a major coincidence, and it's actually the main reason Eda didn't find her sooner; she'd already exhausted any leads on the Nocedas in Gravesfield by the time that the couple moved there, so she was looking in other towns while they were practically right next door, Camila even running into her as "Marilyn" once.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Somehow, after Luz fell into the Demon Realm, she woke up and found out that she'd somehow become half of King's species.
- In Spite of a Nail: Manny and Camila still end up moving to Gravesfield to get better medical aid for the former, Manny still dies, and Owlbert still drags a female Noceda into the Demon Realm by stealing a "Good Witch Azura" book that said Noceda threw out but immediately regretted.
- Let Me Get This Straight...: Used almost word-by-word by Eda after she learns that Warden Wrath stalked her and her kids, and attacked and stole from the eight-year-old King, just to get Eda to go out with him.
- Missed Him by That Much: By the time Manny and Camila moved to Gravesfield, Eda had already stopped searching the town, as the Noceda couple wasn't in it and she was tracking down other leads. She actually ran into Camila once as "Marilyn" even. The second chapter's title even references the misfortune.
- Point of Divergence: The main points seem to be that King cut his paw and bled into a pool while he was still living on his island alone, with Luz then inadvertently stumbling into the Demon Realm through the pool while trying to create a protective charm for her dad and becoming part Titan somehow.
- Wham Episode: Chapter 5 has Vee make an appearance, which startles Camila, has what is is clearly Raine and the BATTs intervene when the Owl family is at the Conformatorium, causing a jailbreak, and includes the formal debuts of Steve, Lilith, and Hunter.
