Car Thief
by Runaway Cartoonist is a crossover slash fic between Gravity Falls and Rick and Morty, staring aged down versions of Stan Pines and Rick Sanchez as young criminals in the The '80s. The story centers around the idea of the multiverse and how it seems almost inevitable that none of these men are destined to be happy.
Car Thief provides examples of:
- Adaptation Name Change: slightly subverted, Beth's mother is named Delilah, not Diane. This is slight because at the time of writing, any version of Beth's mother was up in the air.
- Alternate Universe Fic: In multiple ways. Stan's timeline converges with the original one the second Rick enters the picture. Resulting in him reconciling with his brother early, as well as Rick and Fiddleford briefly falling into Stanford's portal.
- Closet Key: Rick for Stan.
- Domestic Abuse: Delilah is emotionally abusive towards Rick and marries him despite her getting pregnant over a one-night stand.
- Slap-Slap-Kiss: In the very first chapter, Rick misreads the situation of them getting into a physical fight as being flirtatious, so at it's close he kisses Stan.
- The '80s: The entire fanfiction is set in the 1980s, mostly centering around the homeless period of Stan Pines' life.
