Take a shot when:
- Something is over- or undercooked. Another one if they get a "FUCKING RAW!" from Ramsay.
- Someone screws up risotto, scallops or Beef Wellington.
- Someone screws up really badly on the Blind Taste Test, e.g. not recognizing something with a very distinctive flavor, not recognizing an ingredient that the chef's background means they should be familiar with, or identifying something as the exact opposite of what it is.
- Take one sip each time the contestants are fed, and two if they guess the food correctly.
- Someone gets kicked out of the kitchen. If it's multiple people, take another sip for every "you" before the "GET OUT!" Another shot if someone is kicked out of the competition entirely.
- Another shot if the whole team ends up getting booted, with a follow-up shot if the other team does too.
- Someone uses canned/frozen/premade food in their signature dish.
- Ramsay pulls a "You! (long pause) Back in line!" or "WHO COOKED THIS?!...It's perfect." Chew-Out Fake-Out.
- Ramsay give an "Hey! You! You, c'mere, you!" to an unfortunate chef.
- Ramsay calls someone a donkey, donut, bozo or muppet. Follow-up sip if there's a "fucking" before it.
- A contestant is cursed out/booted out for making a really unprofessional mistake... and then tries to defend it in the Confession Cam.
- The first time either team manages to do a complete dinner service.
- A challenge winning streak is broken.
- Someone manages to spend/waste the team's entire supply of an ingredient.
- Someone cooks food that hasn't been ordered yet. Another if it's late in the season and they really should know better.
- A respectful shot to every Non-Gameplay Elimination (except Joseph and maybe Gina).
- A chef with a background that means they should succeed at something but fails at it instead (Italian chef failing at pasta, steakhouse chef failing at steak, New England chef failing at lobster, etc).
- The Red Team wins a challenge/service... but still get into a screaming fight back in the dorms.
- The Blue Team lose a service... approach with caution if you're watching Season 10, 11, or 16.
- The "challenge" was actually just the first part of the challenge. Shoot another one if the team that won the first part loses the second.
- Ramsay describes scallops as "rubber."
- Ramsay eliminates someone who wasn't nominated.
- A miracle happens and a team actually doesn't suck on opening night.
- Someone gets called a bitch. Keep 911 on standby if Jen, Joseph, Kashia or Kimmie is in the episode, and make out your will first if it's got Nedra.
- Ramsay explains the challenge... and then the narrator immediately explains it again.
- In a "team makes this many dishes but Ramsay only tastes the ones they pick" challenge, take a shot if Ramsay tastes a dish that the losing team didn't present... and proclaims that it would have won them the challenge.
- A contestant brags in the Confession Cam about how great their Signature Dish is, only for Ramsay to hate it.
- Kashia says "flustrated."
- Autumn Lewis, Sabrina Brimhall, Elise Harris/Wims, Clemenza Caserta, or Scott Commings get put up for elimination.
- The camera lingers on a female contestant in her underwear.
- The men on the blue team say something sexist about women. Proceed with caution if the misogyny comes from Trev in Season 8, Dan in Season 11 or Anton in Season 12. Start preparing your last will and testament if the misogyny comes from Jason Underwood, Frank Cala or the Season 16 blue team.
- Ramsay likes the taste of a dish, but it loses for poor presentation.
- Ramsay smashes a piece of fish.
- A punishment makes someone vomit.
- A punishment involves eating/drinking gross stuff.
- A respectful shot the first time that season Ramsay actually compliments an eliminated contestant instead of just dismissing them.
- Wince, pause the video, take a shot, and prepare for the explosion if someone talks back to Ramsay.
- A contestant accuses the others of "throwing me under the bus."
- Someone says "bounce back." Have fun in Season 20 (Young Guns).
- There's a censor bleep. Consider yourself lucky if you even make it to service.
- The reward is a trip to a zoo or farm, and the winners start comparing the animals to members of the opposing team.
- Kimmie says she's from the south. Have the emergency services on speed dial.
- Bret mentions being Italian. Have an ambulance ready.note
- Someone says "fighter" in their elimination plea.
- A celebratory toast if Ramsay rejects obviously political nominations, upgrade to a full shot if all nominees are rejected.
- Take a shot when an elimination plea consists of talking down on the other nominee instead of attempting to prove to Ramsay that they can still go on.
- Down your drink if someone survives nomination because the other nominee had a bad night despite being better on average.
- Reduce to a shot with Clemenza's survival so as to not immediately pass out.
- Someone uses the phrase “not rocket science.”
- Someone mentions "their American Dream".
