Eric Barkley and Lloyd Jenkins were two amateur detectives who were investigating a robbery at an old animation studio. When the suspect uncovered a painting from behind at exactly midnight, the painting became a portal that sucked Eric and Lloyd into another universe following several Western Animation conventions. They now run a Film Noir style detective business in New Townsberg while searching for a way to get back home.
