Susan French Moultrie (January 23, 1912- April 6, 2003) was an American character actress. She began her career as a stage actress, having started her own theater group during World War II. She also ran a puppet theater and published a book called Presenting Marionettes in 1964. Shortly afterwards, she made her television debut in an episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. For the rest of her career, she was often cast as women who were considerably older than her actual age at the time. She had bit parts in The Sting and Jaws 2 and played the older version of Jane Seymour's character at the beginning of Somewhere in Time. One of her more memorable TV roles was Miz Melny Trafford in the fan-favorite Quantum Leap episode "The Color of Truth". French passed away at age 91 and some of her ashes were buried on Mackinac Island, Michigan, where Somewhere in Time was filmed.
